Tuition Refund Insurance

Tuition Refund Insurance (TRI) is an optional insurance that students may purchase for a small fee during fall, spring and summer terms. It provides a refund of tuition and fees to a student who must withdraw from all classes due to an illness or accidental injury.

By default, at the time you register, Web Registration will enroll you in Tuition Refund Insurance. During the fall and spring semesters, the Web Registration system automatically enrolls students in Tuition Refund Insurance.

You may decline Tuition Refund Insurance up until the end of week three of the semester by clicking on the Tuition Refund Insurance button in Web Registration and selecting the Opt Out button and update. If you decide before the 3rd week of classes that you want Tuition Refund Insurance, you can follow the same process to purchase tuition refund insurance.

Please review the Tuition Refund Insurance (TRI) Program website for more information.

USC requires that ALL students have comprehensive health insurance. Please review the information for online degree program students provided by the USC Student Health Office.

You are automatically enrolled in the USC Health Insurance Plan if you are enrolled in 6 units or more. Please check your student account.

Enrollment may be waived only if documented proof of comparable coverage from another plan is presented to the Student Health Insurance Office and it meets the University’s requirements. You must beactively registered for classesfor the upcoming/beginning semester before starting the online enrollment/request for waiver process.

Congratulations on your formal admission to USC and the Viterbi School of Engineering. Here are few items to review in your transition from limited status to fully admitted student.

DEN@ Viterbi Profile & D2L Access - You do not need to create a new DEN@Viterbi profile. Your limited status profile in D2L is still valid. Please email vaseden@usc.edu if your D2L Brigthspace status needs to be updated from limited status to admitted if it has not already been updated to reflect your admitted status.

USCID Number - Your USCID number should be the same USCID number you used as a limited status student. If you have been assigned a new USCID number that is different from your existing limited status USCID number, please email vaseden@usc.edu.

Registration - You will continue to register via Web Registration each semester. Now that you are formally admitted, you are required to register every Fall/Spring semester to maintain continuous enrollment. If you do not plan to register for a Fall/Spring term, you must request a formal Leave of Absence. Please contact your graduate advisor to initiate a Leave of Absence.

Academic Advisem*nt - Any questions regarding your degree program requirements and curriculum can now be directed to the Graduate Advisor in your major department. Please contact your graduate advisor for academic advisem*nt.

If you have any questions, please contact vaseden@usc.edu.

If you did not indicate DEN@Viterbi as your preference in your admission application and you were not directly admitted to DEN@Viterbi, you will need to contact Viterbi Graduate Admissions at this contact form to request that your admission be switched to DEN@Viterbi. Please remember to include your USCID number.

Current students who want to switch to DEN should email vaseden@usc.edu for eligibility.

Please note that DEN adheres to the registration and d-clearance policies set by the Academic Department offering the course. Please refer to the DEN d-clearance processing dates for each Department listed on the DEN D-clearance Request Form. Please see next item for DEN d-clearance procedures.

Only DEN@Viterbi students will have access to request DEN d-clearance.
