This constant exchange of information is facilitated by an array of chemical messengers, the endocrine system, gut hormones, and neurotransmitters, all working in harmony to maintain the delicate balance within our body.Remarkably, some of these essential hormones and neurotransmitters, like gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), dopamine, and serotonin, originate in the gut! Alongside these, the gut produces valuable byproducts through carbohydrate fermentation, including the highly anti-inflammatory short-chain fatty acids (SCFA).Understanding the profound impact of the gut microbiome is crucial.
