The Academic Webinars are online information sessions for 2024 Fall incoming Master's students. Advisors will introduce the department, course registration new students' next step and answer any questions you may have during the session.

Before registration, please use SSO sign-in (Zoom) or login to your own Zoom account so you can register successfully. Please note all the following hours are Pacific Time (PT).

Join us for the Viterbi New Student Welcome (two-part orientation) where you'll meet your classmates, hear from faculty and advisors, and learn about resources that will make you successful at USC! These sessions are mandatory for Master's on-campus students.

Registration details will be sent to your USC email account.

Orientation Part I

Orientation Part I is a half-day online session curated by Viterbi departments and offices. Engage with advisors from your academic department, the VASE Office, Viterbi Career Connections, and the Viterbi Student Engagement team as you delve into the world of Viterbi resources. International students will also get familiar with international student status policies and updates.

Orientation Part II

All new master's students will gather together at Orientation Part II for a day of learning and network opportunities with faculty, staff, and students. Get ready for the exceptional opportunity to connect, learn, and discover the boundless potential that awaits you at Viterbi. This will be an all-day event, please do not schedule any other USC event on this day, such as ISV, ISE exam, or department advisem*nt.

  • All Engineering Majors except CS/DS: Friday,August 16, 2024 (On-campus, All-day)

The VASE office continues to communicate updates to your USC email account. Your academic advisors will introduce course registration in your Academic Department Webinar taking place in the coming months. Please check your USC email for the invitation.

Students can locate the registration appointment information at MyUSC- OASIS- permit to register. However, students DO NOT need an appointment to register. It is a system activation date for a student to register online.

For degrees from domestic institutions

Students must submit official transcripts to the Registrar’s office. There are 2 options for submission.

  • Mail a paper copy of the official transcript to the following address:

  • Electronic transcripts sent through email attachments from issuing institutions may be received by USC if sent to etrans@usc.edu.

For degrees from international institutions

Students will need to obtain a “Certification of Studies for USC” from theInternational Education Research Foundation (IERF).* This service is not offered on campus. You will need to send IERF your original documents for inspection, but in most (though not all) cases, your prior institution will not need to send IERF independent verification. When your verification is complete, IERF will mail your documents back to you.

Deadline for all degree verifications is by the end of the your first semester.

International Students

ISE and ITA Exam: The International Student English (ISE) Exam and International Teaching Assistant (ITA) Exam are free placement exams given to assess the English proficiency of international students at USC.

To find out if you are required to take the exams, check your letter of admission or I-20. Registrations are open now! After you sign up, you will receive more detailed instructions regarding taking the exams online. Students are either released from any ALI requirement (ALI 01 hold) or receive an ALI placement based on the exam results.

STU50 hold restricts registration and USCard application for graduate students. To remove the hold, complete Immigration Status Verification(ISV) withOIS upon arrival in the U.S.

ISV is a procedure that verifies a student’s immigration status to ensure the student is eligible to start an academic program at USC for the upcoming academic semester.
