Baked Glazed Donut Recipe:

My kids love getting donuts at the local bakery shop. It has become a tradition to go to our local donut shop on Saturday morning for their delicious donuts. So I decided that we needed to try and make them at home.

These baked donuts are made completely from scratch. This recipe would be perfect to have on Christmas morning or for a weekend brunch. The flavor is amazing and the delicious glaze makes them the ultimate treat.

This simple recipe gives you the bakery donuts that you crave on the weekend without all the rolling, cutting or frying the donuts. The benefit of making it from scratch is you can customize to your liking.

How to Make Baked Donuts with glaze:

Making glazed baked donuts has never been easier. You probably have everything you need in your pantry to make these glazed donuts. What I love is that using a donut pan makes it easy to make these donuts.

No need to roll out the dough, you basically just mix together the ingredients and pour in the prepared pan.

These donuts are soft, almost cake-like texture, that are not overly sweet. The added vanilla glaze adds just the right amount of sweetness that tops off these donuts perfectly.

Plus there is no yeast in this recipe, so you don’t have to wait for them to rise.

Tips for the Best Baked Donuts:

  • Serving Donuts – These donuts are best served warm. But will keep fresh in an air tight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.
  • Freezing Donuts – You can freeze these donuts for up to about 2 months. Once you are ready to serve, put the donuts in the refrigerator to thaw and then heat in microwave if you want them warm.
  • Pastry Bag – For ease of putting the dough in the donut tins, place your dough in a pastry bag.
  • Filling Donut Pan – Fill the baking pan about ¾ full for the perfect size of donut.
  • Allow to Cool – Let your donuts cool completely before putting on the glaze.
  • Add extra glaze – Try even double dunking the donuts in the glaze. It is so good with that extra icing.

Can I Make Donuts without a Donut Pan?

Yes, you can make donuts without a donut pan. If you have aluminum foil in a muffin pan, then you can use it to make your favorite baked donuts.

  • Take a square piece of aluminum foil and press over one of your fingers. It needs to be large enough to cover a cup in the muffin pan.
  • Then press the aluminum foil into the muffin cup with a partial part sticking up to create a hole in the center of the donut.
  • Spray the muffin tine with cooking spray as well as the almunium foil.
  • After preparing the donut batter, then you are ready to pour into the foil lined muffin pan.

Toppings for Baked Donuts:

  • Add Food Coloring to Glaze – The vanilla glaze is perfect for this donut recipe. You can also add some food coloring to the glaze if one of your kids is wanting a pink donut.
  • Sprinkles – We also love adding Sprinkles to our donuts. If you are making them for Christmas morning, add some Christmas sprinkles. Whatever holiday or birthday it is, your kids will love the extra sprinkles on their donuts.
  • Cinnamon and Sugar – You can also make a cinnamon and sugar mixture by adding it to melted butter and dunk your donuts in that mixture before serving.
